Nasal Obstruction

Nasal Obstruction Surgery

As a specialist ear, nose and throat group, Dr Pincock provides nasal blockage treatment amongst a range of services. The course of treatment which is right for you will depend on a number of different factors, including what is causing the blockage, whether it is a chronic or temporary blockage, and what (if any) interrelated health conditions you have. Dr Pincock is a paediatric ENT specialist, who can also advise on the right course of treatment for young children.

Infection or allergy

Stuffy noses or blocked noses are often caused by inflamed blood vessels in your sinuses. This inflammation can be caused by viral or bacterial infection, as well as environmental sensitivity. There are a number of practical solutions available, depending on the cause of your stuffiness – your ENT doctor will talk through your symptoms to help determine this cause. Solutions and treatments may include using a humidifier, a saline spray, an over the counter decongestant, or a prescribed medication.

Structural problems

Sometimes, the physical structure of your nose can cause problems with breathing or your sense of smell. This can be genetic, or it can be the result of a trauma to the nose. In this situation, blocked nose treatment may involve surgery. The type of surgery will depend on the extent of the problem. You can discuss this during your initial consultation appointment with your doctor.
